All inclusive vs Local Resort

It’s my first time going to Jamaica. I am going for the last week of September. 2 adults. Any suggestions for places that may meet my needs? Negril for now, but open to suggestions. I want to go to a resort with beach access, outdoor activities (zip line, scuba, snorkeling, etc.) spa (massages and facials), INCREDIBLE food and strong drinks, bonus points for nightlife such as fine dining and clubs. I am all for supporting local resorts however is it more expensive to do all of those activities at a non inclusive? How difficult is it to plan those activities? Thanks in advance!

Advice

Get Steve Positive Tours to do your transfer from the airport to Negril. The guy is professional, punctual, trusteorthy and just awesome in general. It’s like an hour and a half drive so he can answer/take care of whatever you need.

Advice

I heard Chef Allan moved his lunch operation down the beach, excited to try it next time back. Always love the Singing Chef. Ms Gail runs a good hotel operation, we have never wanted for anything within reason.

Fun Holiday Beach Resort Negril

You will never go big again..local is where the vibe is the people is…you will regret forever going to the bigger hotels in negril…been there 6 times and going back Friday!

Advice

The people and even the tourists that stay there. It’s a place where once you go there’s a guarantee that you will return over and over and over I’m bringing 3 friends on this trip and I had to convince them but believe me when I get them down there they’re gonna see this place is everything I told me would be…when I was first introduced to this hotel I thought I could do better and I could afford better…so glad I listened to someone that had been there many times and they told me if your looking for the real Jamaica experience this is the spot…right in the middle of seven mile beach….if I can walk safely on the beach at 3am it’s all good!

How’s the pricing compared to Sandals?

We’ve been enjoying the Sandals resorts partly because the food options and entertainment are great, I’m wondering if I should try staying at some other places too.

Advice

Go to a small local hotel/guest villas. You’ll get your own hut each and maybe shared kitchen or your own and it will be 1/4 the price. Look up places like Strawberry Fields Forever or Treasure Beach or Little Ochie

Advice

Oh yeah - the resort was nice, the people that work there are awesome, the beach and pool was great. Overall amazing time…just the food sucked (except the food truck they have). I should have hit up Scotchies!
