Does Jamaica have Grab/Uber? How much does it usually cost? Would you also recommend the public buses? Thank you.

Advice

The local “mini bus” or “taxi” is what I use for budget reasons. You can “charter a taxi” if you don’t mind being ripped off majorly. There are some nice buses, like the luxury type also available depending on when and where you are going on the island. I actually don’t know if they have Uber. Most locals that don’t drive use aforementioned transportation.

Advice

Use Uber for fixed rates, the charter taxi services have rates but you have to inquire first before ordering the cab so that you know what the charges are and that they don’t try to rob you with tourist pricing.

Advice

I recommend a private driver. I lived there for a year and it’s the most comfortable way to go.. and safe. The public busses are okay too if you are going a ways like to another city. Ask any local hotel to recommend a reputable driver and they will. God bless and have fun. :)

Advice

Kingston for the most part isnt unsafe if you dont do anything dumb. Tourists who are friendly get treated amazing. Granted staying out too late things could get a bit unsafe but thats the case almost anywhere else. Ill share a link to a vid of a tourist hanging out in downtown kingston for a whole day with 0 issues. He was friendly so everyone took care of him.

Advice

Uber operate in Kingston, st Andrew, St Catherine they traverse in major townThe fare is Kingston range from $1000 to $4000 be mindful where you are going.Charges appy

There is also indriver operate in Jamaica I hear they are cheaper the uberhttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sinet.startup.inDriver

Advice

There is. In Kingston apparently. But in my opinion you can get good service by calling taxi like Gadgepro or On Time. They are almost everywhere, decently efficient, and Gadgepro responds to Whatsapp messages.

Public transport is so so. The JUTC stick to a almost consistent schedule but often late I’ve heard. As for the Coasters those are okay if you fine with possible music, occasionally annoying passengers etc. Which can also be said for JUTC.

Advice

You can book it same day. It works like any other Uber. Only available in Kingston tho.

Public transportation is fine, I would recommend a chartered taxis which are roughly the same price as an Uber here. Look for onTime or Gadgepro (avoid Juta). Once you aren’t traveling during peak work traffic hours they’ll come in 5-15 min

Advice

We have Uber and it’s inexpensive but only available in Kingston. If you take the public buses make sure to only take JUTC as the private ones are an unpleasant experience, they get you to where you want to go quicker which is why the locals use them instead but as a tourist just avoid them.
