Hello there, I've recently researched about jamaica and places to go and made some reddit posts. Meanwhile when I read articles in the internet I get total different informations that the crime is more based on gangs killing eachother and stuff like pickpocketing and robbery. But local redditors told me that the place is not safe to visit at all not even in resorts. My plan was to go on solo hikes with my backpack, but I heard that's a very deadly thing to do there. My dad wants me to keep calling him Daddy, even though I don't feel quite as comfortable with it anymore, since I can't help but feel like it sounds weird, especially in front of others. Where are your favourite independent places to stay on the beach in Negril? The cliffs are cool too but I feel like there are more independent hotels there than on the beach. I'll start: Firefly Beach cottages! It's literally just a bed with barely enough room to put your suitcase, but to me it felt cozy and adventurous. The grounds are beautiful, the outdoor showers are a fun experience, and the staff are fantastic.

I had an awful experience recently at Secrets in Cozumel, Mexico, where they pretty much had the resort separated for their timeshare guests with gorgeous rooms, nicer beach access and an oceanfront pool. Non-timeshare/vacation club guests had to stay on a separate side of the resort, our room had black mold, pools with no views etc. Long story short, my boyfriend and I want to visit Jamaica this winter and I’m looking for an excellent resort to visit that treats all their guest the same. Would anyone happen to know what this entails? Like, if I called in to make a reservation for a half an hour from now (hypothetically), would that be acceptable?
